intensive ballroom/latin/swing dance lessons 35-75 m4w Would you like to learn social dancing (i.e. ballroom/Latin/Swing), and maybe practice a bit?
The primary goal is learning to dance and make new friendships. No expectations beyond that (for anything else the age range would be smaller).
If you have a friend or friends who would also be interested, so we had a group of several men and several women that could be great. We could go to practice sessions or other dances as a group, which most advise is good while learning.
The Northwestern University "Ballroom, Latin And Swing Team" gives inexpensive lessons, which are open to non students.
Most of the class members will be 18-22 years old, so I'd like a partner (or group) well over that age, to dance with "mostly" and maybe at some additional practice sessions (included free with the class). If you just want more information, I will be happy to share that with you.
If they have classes like last year:
Fall quarter classes start mid to late September with a free introduction from 6-8 PM, then continuing for ~8 more weeks on Monday AND Tuesday. Probably 34 hours of classes for $60 total, plus maybe 20 hours optional assisted practice time on other days, starting a week or two later. The formal announcement has usually come out 3-12 days before classes start.
Age, race, height, weight, etc are not important, and married or in a relationship could be OK too. If you are under 30, you can probably fit in to the class without me, as they do have a few grad students. The class is likely to have 2-3 times as many women as men, so you might be better dancing with me or finding other men for yourself or a group of us.
Last year the main classes were (one hour each, two Monday, two Tuesday):
--Swing (East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, Jive, Blues, etc.)
--Latin Club (Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, etc)
--Latin (Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Merengue, Mambo, etc)
--Ballroom (Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, etc)
There will probably also be 4 week speciality classes later for $10 each, maybe Argentine tango, lindy hop, advanced swing, belly dancing, Charleston etc. Without taking the basic lessons, the speciality ones are $30.
In addition to emailing, it would be nice to meet and dance somewhere once or twice so we are both sure we want to commit to this. I have some experience, and have been through these classes, but without a regular dance partner, have forgotten most of what i have learned. What they teach varies from quarter to quarter anyway. But even if you are new, I should be able to lead you through some basic dancing.
